Black Seed Oil

The Ancient Remedy Worth Knowing

Black seed oil (Nigella sativa) has been used for over two thousand years across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia — famously referenced in ancient texts as a remedy for “everything except death.” Cold-pressed from the small black seeds of the Nigella sativa plant, this oil has a distinctively bold, slightly spicy aroma and a long history that gives it a well-earned reputation in the natural wellness world.

For skincare, black seed oil is rich in thymoquinone, a naturally occurring compound with notable antioxidant properties, along with linoleic acid and other fatty acids that support a balanced, healthy skin surface. It’s particularly well-loved for troubled, reactive, or uneven skin, and has a long tradition of use for conditions like eczema and psoriasis. With a comedogenic rating of around 2, it works well for most skin types including combination and acne-prone skin.

Best Uses: Facial serums and targeted spot treatments; balms and butters for reactive or sensitive skin; body oils for dry or uneven skin tone; blended with lighter carrier oils for daily facial use.
