Not every bar goes according to plan. Dusk & Damask started as something else entirely — a different vision, a different color in mind. What came out of the mold was a grey-purple unlike anything in the lineup, somewhere between a rain cloud and a dried rose petal. Unexpected. And too good to walk away from.
A new essential oil blend was built around that color, one that matched its mood. Patchouli anchors everything — earthy, deep, and unmistakable, the kind of note that doesn't apologize for itself. Palmarosa and geranium layer in a rich, old-fashioned floral quality, the sort you'd associate with a Victorian dressing table rather than a modern perfume counter. Black pepper adds a subtle edge. Cinnamon leaf brings a low, warm hum underneath it all. A bright note of grapefruit opens the bar when it's fresh, though like all citrus essential oils it softens and steps back as the bar cures, leaving the deeper notes to tell the rest of the story.
This is a tallow-only bar — no lard, no coconut oil, just rendered grass-fed beef tallow doing what it has always done best. The result is a very hard, long-lasting bar with a creamy, low-suds lather that is gentler and more conditioning than a standard soap.
