We pride ourselves in being very transparent with the ingredients we use in our soaps and skincare lines. Because we are a small business and don't pay to have our products tested, we cannot claim any product to have certain benefits. For example, we cannot claim our products help with eczema, acne, psoriasis, rosacea, etc. However, we can outline the general benefits of each ingredient as it is commonly documented.
If we've overlooked an ingredient, please let us know so we can add it to the list.
Syndet shampoo and conditioner bars are solid hair-care products made with synthetic detergents rather than traditional soap. “Syndet” simply means synthetic detergent, and while the word “synthetic” can sound harsh, these ingredients were developed specifically to cleanse hair and scalp more gently and predictably than true soap. Unlike soap-based bars, syndet bars are designed to work well in a wide range of water types, rinse cleanly without leaving residue, and maintain a structure that performs consistently from the first wash to the last.
One of the most important reasons syndets have a strong place in haircare is pH balance. Hair and scalp naturally sit in a slightly acidic range—generally around pH 4.5–5.5. Traditional soap is inherently alkaline, often landing around pH 9–10, which can lift the hair cuticle, increase friction, and contribute to dryness, dullness, and tangling over time. Syndet surfactants, on the other hand, can be formulated to stay within that mildly acidic range, helping the cuticle lie flatter. This supports smoother hair, better shine, easier detangling, and a more comfortable scalp environment. Because of this controlled pH, syndet shampoo and conditioner bars are especially well-suited for frequent use, color-treated hair, and anyone looking for a solid alternative that behaves more like modern liquid haircare—without the bottle.
