Soap Making Courses

We Make Good Soap. Now We Want to Teach You How.

If you have been following along, you already know that we recently rebranded from HiVibes Collective to The Good Soap Works Co. That name change was not just cosmetic. It was a declaration of purpose. We make good soap here. Real soap. Handcrafted soap. Soap that works. And now we are opening up the workshop doors and inviting you in.

The Good Soap Works Co. is officially launching soap making courses — and we could not be more excited to share everything we have learned with you.

Good Soap Starts with Knowing What Is In It

Most people have never stopped to read the ingredient label on their soap. And honestly, that is by design. Commercial soap labels are written to confuse, not to inform. Long chemical names, synthetic additives, detergents masquerading as moisturizers — the average bar of grocery store soap is a far cry from what soap is supposed to be.

When you make your own soap, all of that goes away. You choose every single ingredient that goes into every single bar. You know exactly what is touching your skin and the skin of everyone in your household. No guessing. No trusting a corporation to have your family’s best interests at heart. Just you, your ingredients, and a process that has been trusted for centuries.

That kind of confidence is worth a lot. And it starts with learning how.

Who Is Soap Making For?

Honestly? It is for more people than you might think.

It is for the DIYer who loves the satisfaction of making something real and useful with their own hands. There is something deeply rewarding about pulling a beautifully finished bar of soap out of the mold knowing you made it from scratch. Soap making scratches that itch like few other crafts can.

It is for the person who has been quietly working toward a more self-reliant lifestyle. Whether you are building a homestead, stocking a pantry, or simply trying to depend a little less on big box stores and commercial supply chains, knowing how to make your own soap and skincare products is a genuinely practical skill. It is the kind of knowledge that stays with you.

It is for the family with someone who struggles with sensitive or reactive skin. If you have a child, a partner, or a family member who seems to react to everything — itchy skin, dryness, redness, irritation that never quite goes away — you have probably already started wondering whether their products are part of the problem. Learning to make your own soap means you can strip everything back to basics and start fresh with ingredients you actually trust.

It is for the person who is simply done sending money to companies that do not share their values. Every bar of soap you make at home is one less bar purchased from a corporation that may not care much about what goes into it. That adds up — for your wallet, for your household, and for your peace of mind.

And it is for the curious beginner who just wants to try something new and see if they love it. Spoiler: most people do.

What You Will Learn

Our courses are built for real people, not chemists. You do not need a science degree or a professional kitchen. You need a willingness to learn, a few basic supplies, and a little bit of patience while your soap cures.

We will walk you through everything from safety and equipment to ingredients and formulation. We will cover the cold process method that produces a genuine handcrafted bar of soap, and we will take the mystery out of every step along the way. By the time you finish your first course, you will understand not just how to make soap but why each step matters — and that understanding is what turns a beginner into a confident maker. If you are curious about the broader craft and community, the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild is also worth exploring.

Real Soap. Real Skills. Right Here.

At The Good Soap Works Co., we believe that good soap is something everyone deserves — and something anyone can learn to make. Our courses are designed to give you exactly that. Practical knowledge, honest instruction, and the confidence to walk into your kitchen and make something genuinely good.

Good soap really works. And once you know how to make it yourself, you will never look at a grocery store bar the same way again.

The Good Soap Works Logo

We’ve Rebranded!

A New Name, The Same Good Soap: Introducing The Good Soap Works Co.

If you have been around here for a while, you might notice something a little different. The logo looks fresher. The name has changed. And yes, there is a very good reason for all of it.

HiVibes Collective has officially rebranded to The Good Soap Works Co.

Go ahead and say it out loud. It just feels right, does it not?

Where It All Started

The name HiVibes Collective was born in a completely different season of life — back when this business began with crystal jewelry and a whole lot of creative energy. It was a good name for that chapter. But somewhere between the lye and the lard, the essential oils and the wooden soap dishes, this business quietly became something else entirely.

It became a soap business. A real, honest-to-goodness, small-batch, handcrafted soap and skincare business rooted in careful ingredients, time-honored methods, and a deep belief that what you put on our body actually matters.

And “HiVibes Collective” — bless its heart — was not quite telling that story anymore.

So, Why The Good Soap Works Co.?

Here is the thing about a good name. It should do more than one job.

The Good Soap Works Co. does exactly that.

On one hand, it is a place. A works — as in a workshop, a manufactory, a space where something real is made by hand with care and intention. The kind of name you might have seen painted above a storefront window in 1902, right next to the ironworks and the millinery. There is heritage in that word. There is craft.

On the other hand, it is a promise. Good soap works. Full stop. No mystery ingredients. No detergent dressed up as a bar and propped up with a pretty label. Just real soap, made the right way, that actually does what soap is supposed to do.

Two meanings. One name. We are rather fond of it.

What Does “Good Soap” Actually Mean Around Here?

This is where it gets interesting — and maybe a little different from what you might expect.

Good soap is not a single thing. It is not one ingredient list or one philosophy handed down from a mountaintop. At The Good Soap Works Co., good soap spans a wide and beautiful range. There are rich tallow bars made from traditional rendered fats the way soap has been made for centuries. There are fully vegan bars crafted with plant-based oils and butters. There are soaps scented purely with essential oils and colored with nothing but botanicals and clays.

And yes — there are also soaps with skin-safe micas that swirl into something gorgeous, and phthalate-free fragrance oils that smell like a warm bakery or a walk through a pine forest. Because here is the truth: a beautifully colored, delightfully scented handcrafted bar made with carefully chosen ingredients is still worlds apart from the commercial soap block sitting on the grocery store shelf. That commercial bar — the one most of us grew up with — is often not even legally classified as soap. It is a detergent. A synthetic block of who-knows-what, squeezed into a bar shape and sold as something it is not.

Everything made at The Good Soap Works Co. is the real thing. Wherever it falls on the spectrum, it is still good soap. And good soap works.

What Is Staying the Same

Everything that matters.

The same handcrafted process. The same commitment to thoughtfully chosen ingredients. The same sustainable packaging. The same careful attention to what goes into every bar, lotion, and accessory that leaves this workshop.

The soaps are still the same soaps. The care behind them is the same care it has always been. If anything, the new name just makes it easier to find us, understand us, and trust us from the very first impression.

What This Rebrand Really Means

Rebranding is not something to do lightly. It is not a coat of fresh paint slapped over something that was not working. This rebrand is about clarity and direction. It is about stepping into the next chapter with a name that actually communicates what we do, what we stand for, and where we are headed.

The Good Soap Works Co. is built for a wide range of people — from the woman who wants nothing but tallow and lavender on her skin, to the one who just wants a gorgeous bar that smells amazing and is still made with integrity. Both of them deserve better than what is sitting on the drugstore shelf. Both of them belong here.

That is who we make soap for. That is who we have always made soap for.

Now we finally have a name that says so.

A Note of Gratitude

To everyone who has followed along, purchased a bar, left a kind review, or simply cheered from the sidelines — thank you. You are the reason this business keeps growing and evolving. Your trust is not something taken lightly around here.

HiVibes Collective may be stepping back, but The Good Soap Works Co. is stepping forward. And there is a lot of good work ahead.

Good soap really works. Come see for yourself.

Naturally better with old-fashioned ingredients

We craft our soap the old-fashioned way, using nourishing natural ingredients like grass-fed tallow, calendula-infused oils, and gentle plant-based colorants like madder root, spirulina, and clays. We skip the synthetic dyes, fragrances, and preservatives found in many commercial bars, opting instead for time-honored botanicals and essential oils that offer a more grounded, wholesome experience for your skin and senses.

Whether you’re drawn to the creamy lather of a lard or tallow soap, the glow of golden calendula petals, or the refreshing scent of real essential oils, you’ll find something here that feels both familiar and special. Our products are handcrafted in small batches with care—not just to cleanse, but to connect you to something more honest and human.

In a world filled with synthetic fragrances, harsh detergents, and over processed products, handcrafted soap offers something refreshingly real. Every bar we make is a return to simpler, slower traditions—where ingredients are chosen with purpose, and skincare is rooted in nature, not chemistry labs. When you choose handcrafted soap, you’re not just cleansing your skin—you’re stepping away from the mass-produced and toward something thoughtful, beautiful, and intentionally made.

Why handmade soap? Why Us?

Real Ingredients, Real Benefits

Handmade soap is crafted with nourishing oils, butters, and natural ingredients your skin actually loves—no harsh detergents, sulfates, or synthetic fillers. Unlike commercial soaps that strip moisture, our bars cleanse gently, leaving your skin feeling soft and balanced. Plus, we embrace the beauty of nature, using simple, skin-loving ingredients without the unnecessary extras.

Small Batch, Big Heart

We’re not a faceless factory—we’re real people who care about what goes into every bar of soap we make. Small-batch production means we can focus on quality, creativity, and thoughtful details. Whether it’s a simple, nourishing bar or a beautifully swirled work of art, each one is made with intention, passion, and a love for the craft.

Crafted with Care, Not Chemicals

Every bar we make is mixed, poured, and cut by hand—no mass production, no shortcuts. This means each soap gets the time and attention it deserves, ensuring quality you can feel. We use the traditional cold process method, which preserves the natural benefits of our ingredients and results in a rich, creamy lather. It’s a time-honored craft, and we love bringing that artistry to your everyday routine.

Skin-Friendly & Earth-Friendly

Good for you, good for the planet. Our soaps are biodegradable and made without unnecessary plastic packaging, so you can cleanse with a clear conscience. We keep things as natural as possible—no artificial colors, synthetic fragrances, or harsh preservatives—just wholesome ingredients that love your skin and respect the earth.

Dry skin relief

September 2, 2025

This Whipped Tallow balm softens the dry skin and callouses on my feet. I put it on before going to bed and in the morning before wearing socks. I appreciate that it’s clean with no artificial ingredients. I love the lip balm as well. Thank you for great products!

Best conditioner I’ve come across yet!

August 28, 2025

This is sorcery or something. I have seriously tried soooo many natural and home made shampoo and conditioner bars. Each being kind of disappointing in one way or another. Too soft and mushy, too stripping on my hair or leaving greasy residue and build up. But this one has the perfect balance of everything. I can condition my whole head and it doesn’t get greasy at all, in fact it helps reduce frizz I always struggled with. My hair looks so good and healthy. It has more body and volume, and I don’t even have to straighten it to tame it anymore. Love love love love love! This is absolutely my new hair routine.

Best shampoo bar I’ve found yet!!

August 28, 2025

And I have tried many!! What I love is that it’s nice and hard but with a very easy instant creamy lather. So I don’t feel like I’m using a quarter of the bar each time I wash. Other handmade bars seem to be very soft and have lots of little bits in them and they break down, get mushy and fall apart before I’m done with them. The scent is divine. My hair is clean but not stripped and that lasts for days where in the past my hair would quickly get greasy just a day after washing. Needless to say I think my search for the perfect bar has ended.
