Handcrafted with Care Using Natural Ingredients

Price range: $17.00 through $35.00
The same whipped tallow base — grass-fed tallow, jojoba, sweet almond, rosehip, and vitamin E — with one addition: pure essential oils and a coordinating natural colorant for each scent. Lavender mint is tinted soft purple with Brazilian clay. Peppermint gets a rosy tint from French pink clay and cranberry extract. Frankincense is warmed with yellow Brazilian clay. Orange patchouli is earthy and grounded, colored with mango powder. Every tint comes from a natural source. Every scent comes from the essential oil itself.
Same base. Different character.
Whipped Tallow - Scented starts from exactly the same place as the unscented version — grass-fed tallow whipped with jojoba, sweet almond, and rosehip oils, finished with vitamin E. Everything that makes the base formula work is carried forward unchanged. What changes is the finish: pure essential oils for scent, and a natural colorant chosen to complement each one.
The approach is deliberate. Each scent is paired with a colorant that makes visual sense alongside it — not for decoration's sake, but because the colorants themselves are natural botanical or clay ingredients that belong in a tallow-based formula.
Lavender Mint is scented with lavender and spearmint essential oils — floral and cool in equal measure — and tinted a soft purple with Brazilian purple clay. Peppermint gets its crisp, clean scent from peppermint essential oil and its rosy tint from French pink clay and cranberry extract (Vaccinium macrocarpon), two natural colorants that work together for a warm blush tone. Frankincense is deep and resinous, earthy without being heavy, and warmed visually with yellow Brazilian clay. Orange Patchouli blends sweet orange peel oil with grounding patchouli, colored with mango powder for a soft golden warmth — note that this scent is available in limited remaining stock and may not be restocked.
All scents are subtle and from the essential oil itself. No synthetic fragrance compounds, no artificial color. The jar you open smells like the ingredients it contains.
Packaged in frosted glass jars with metal lids in two sizes. The glass is reusable — a more sustainable option than a single-use plastic container.
To Use – Moisten the dry areas of your skin. Scoop a small amount and warm between clean fingers. Gently massage into skin until fully absorbed. Tallow helps seal in the moisture.
Magnesium? – Magnesium calms the body. Use magnesium tallow at night, especially on restless legs and other areas that need extra care.
Keep it Happy! – Whipped Tallow is a "dry product" which means there is no water and therefore has no preservatives. Try to keep water out of the container by using dry fingers or a small makeup applicator to scoop the product out. On the other hand, the Magnesium Tallow does contain distilled water and uses a preservative, but its always a good idea to keep tap water, which could contain bacteria, away from it.
Although we have never seen mold in our whipped tallow, this would mean that bacteria was introduced into the container either by dirty or wet fingers. Remove the mold and store in the fridge to prolong the shelf life.
💡 Bonus Tip: Tallow itself, DOES NOT moisturize. It only locks in moisture. Thus, moisture is needed on the skin prior to applying the tallow. An easy way to do this is to apply to the body just after a shower or to the face just after washing.

• Ingredients: We’re always working to bring you the best, so ingredient lists may evolve! For the most up-to-date details, check the product packaging. See these links for detailed information on the ingredients we use: Oils, Butters & Lye; Additives; Essential Oils & Fragrances; Colorants.
• Sensitivities: While our lotion bars are crafted with care, discontinue use if irritation occurs.
• Whipped Tallow Properties: Due to labeling guidelines, we can’t make specific claims about the nourishing properties of our ingredients. However, we encourage you to explore the benefits of each ingredient and discover what works best for your skin!
• Fading: Natural colorants and essential oils are beautifully delicate—unlike synthetic dyes and fragrances, they tend to fade over time. That gentle fading is your proof it’s truly natural!
• Whipped Tallow Texture: Your whipped tallow should come to you in a smooth form. However, tallow has a lower melting point than most plant butters and therefore can easily be softened to the point that it may separate slightly from the other oils in the recipe. This may cause our tallow to feel a little grainy or to feel more like a firm balm. There is nothing wrong with the tallow other than the texture or consistency. If you would like to remelt your whipped tallow so it goes back to it's smooth, light and fluffy texture, please follow the instructions below in the FAQs section.
• Variations: Natural variations of color, design and shape occur with all handmade products.

This lip balm isn't dry like others I've tried, it actually glides on like silk and keeps my lips moist without being greasy. Another five star product from HiVibes Collective, thanks!

Tallow isn't like regular lotion; only a small amount is needed for each application. A small 2 oz container will last one person quite a while. However, it does depend on if you are only using it on your face as opposed to your entire body.
Yes, we use only essential oils to scent and clays to color, both of which are good for the skin. We also offer Unscented to those who may have skin sensitivities, for children, or those who prefer unscented skincare.
Fading of scent or color is completely normal. Essential oils are delicate and can evaporate as the whipped tallow sits, especially lighter scents like citrus. Likewise, natural colorants such as clays, herbs and plant powders may soften in shade over time since they aren’t stabilized with synthetic dyes.
This gentle change doesn’t affect the quality or effectiveness of the whipped tallow—it’s simply part of the charm of using a truly natural product. To keep your whipped tallow at its best, we recommend storing it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Well, it could smell like nothing, but it could have a faint beefy smell or my favorite, a buttery smell. It all depends on how the tallow was rendered, but also what breed of cow it came from and whether it was grass- or grain-finished. (Some say that grass-finished tallow has a beefier smell than grain-finished tallow and therefore, the "better" tallow is the "smellier" one). But in the end, the quality of the tallow is not necessarily reflected by the smell or lack, thereof.
Currently, we render local tallow ourselves for our whipped tallow and other skincare products, but find that our tallow is not necessarily milder smelling than tallow we've sourced from suppliers for our soaps. Some suppliers deodorize their tallow, which is another process that also removes many of the vitamins and minerals that are present in tallow, so we try to stay away from them, even for soap making.
If you have an aversion to the beef smell, we encourage you to stick with our scented whipped tallows which cover any scent that may exist. Our vanilla-infused tallow is our personal favorite and has a wonderful aroma that will not fade over time.
If you have sensitive skin, it's best to always test first. You will find that less ingredients may be better for sensitive skin rather than adding extras that may aggravate it. Look for our unscented versions of whipped tallow, which are also not colored with any clays. We also recommend the unscented varieties when using the product on children.
As an artist of handmade products, I can attest that we are not machines. We can't always do things exactly the same time, every time. This includes everything from the ingredient amounts to how much fits in the jar. You will know its handmade when every bar you see has its own personality, it's own look.
Whereas, commercial tallow products are made by machines and are produced exactly the same way every time. There is definitely consistency, but no artistry in commercial products.
As a handcrafter, we try to use a more sustainable way of packaging our product. Glass is not porous and will not leach chemicals into our tallow balms like a plastic jar would. Sometimes we use plastic containers for samples or if someone places a custom order and wants to save a few bucks. We do, however, use plastic shrink wrap to seal the lids on the jars for protection and there is a plastic insert inside the metal lid. In the future, we may switch our jars to sustainable, recyclable plastic jars if glass is breaking during shipment or if shipping heavier glass gets cost prohibitive for our customers.
Sometimes trying new products, especially natural products that may work differently from commercial products, your body might start to detox and make change to your skin, hair, etc. Sometimes the change may be a negative one at first while your body adjusts to the new product. If this happens, don't immediately set aside the product. Your body may take a few days to a few weeks of use to work itself out and come to a balance.
However, if you are having an allergic reaction, discontinue use immediately and seek medical help, if needed. (Even natural ingredients have allergens that people can react with. Patch test first if you are worried about sensitives.)
If our product(s) just don't work for you after consistently using them for several weeks, or if you have an allergic reaction to one of our products, please contact us so we can discuss a refund or replacement of the item(s).
Yes! Law requires us to include the INCI name for our products that are considered cosmetics which is anything other than soap. Soap is not considered a cosmetic, so we don't include usually the INCI ingredient list. Whether we are required to include the INCI list or not, we always include the common name list so the ingredients are easily recognizable.
We want you to know how each ingredient affects the final product, if just out of curiosity or allergy-related. We've compiled lists of each ingredient and what they bring to the table. Check them out here: Butters & Oils, Additives (special oils, etc.), Scents (essential oils & fragrance oils), and colorants (powders & clays). You will also find these links in our footer at the bottom of each page as well as in the drop-down menu. If you don't see a particular ingredient listed, let us know, and we will add it. You can also google the standard name or INCI name for a good snapshot of the ingredient and its uses.
No, tallow is beef fat. But, just like all our other products, our whipped tallows are not tested on animals.
For Regular Whipped Tallow
Whipped Tallow products have a low melting point. If your product is heated over 80°F your tallow may lose its whipped consistency and become more of a solid balm or have a grainy texture. It does not affect the product in any way; only the consistency.
If this happens and you would like to bring it back to its original whipped consistency, follow these easy instructions:
1. Empty your tallow into a heat safe container.
2. Melt tallow in a double boiler until in a liquid state.
3. Place in freezer for a few minutes (just enough to cool and become a solid, but not so hard that it can't be whipped.
4. Using your hand mixer, blend your tallow until it incorporates enough air to reach the consistency you prefer.
5. Place back into original container.
6. Store in a cool, dry place or even the refrigerator if your climate is consistently warm.
For Magnesium Whipped Tallow
Because there is a preservative in this formula, by heating up the tallow the preservative will be neutralized. You could do this, but you will need to keep it refrigerated and use it up within a short period of time. My recommendation is to leave the consistency as is to leave the preservative intact.
